Task Force on Climate-Related Disclosure - NEW!
In Partnership with:
Climate change is recognized by the World Economic Forum, and others, as the most significant global risk to the world economy - but it is not being treated with the rigour such a claim would expect at Board Room tables. Climate impacts will have devastating impacts on both human and natural systems across the globe. Policy and business responses are evolving to both (a) mitigate the worst through transitioning to a lower-carbon economy, and (b) adapt to the inevitable physical impacts that are already occurring and will be increasing over time, such as increased extreme weather.
Climate change has become a core business issue, particularly in the context of economic decision making. Corporate governance has evolved to include an expectation that the board of directors should be aware of and oversee management of these risks - which is being driven by regulators, investors and voluntary initiatives such as the Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosures (TCFD). This introductory workshop explains the drivers for increased climate-related disclosure, including shareholder and regulatory expectations. Also provided is an overview of the TCFD recommendations for reporting transition and physical climate-related risk and opportunities, exploring the four categories of TCFD recommendations: Governance, Strategy, Risk and Metrics & Targets. The course will detail the disclosures recommended by the TCFD and the observed practice of sample TCFD adopters.
This program is facilitated by Mantle, which has extensive experience leading organizations towards a low-carbon and climate-adapted future integrating the management of climate risk within a business strategy and corporate framework.
