Course Summary:

This course allows participants to identify what constitutes a confined space, what hazards can be found in a confined space, how these hazards can impact the worker, and what should be done to mitigate these hazards and protect workers functioning/working in a confined space.

The course covers different scenarios in which confined space work takes place, focusing on examples specific to the electrical utility industry.  A basic equipment review is provided, along with a mock entry permit completion.

  • Hazard identification

  • Roles and responsibilities

  • Entry permits

  • Atmospheric testing

  • Ventilation

  • Entry and work procedures

  • Hot work

  • Respirators

  • Rescue

Who Should Attend

Anyone involved in accessing, supporting or supervising employees/contractors working in confined spaces.


There are no prerequisites for this course, however this course is the prerequisite for the three day "Confined Space Rescue" course which will be offered at a future date.
